About who needs care: he's in assisted living for a couple more weeks, before hopefully going home. He has a sm dog which barks at strangers. He had a stroke in April which put him in a wheelchair. His speech was affected but you can understand him IF he talks slowly. He uses a walker a little, as his balance is not the best. He will take a few steps without walker, which he should not do. He likes to sit on front porch and smoke cigars; does not smoke in doors. He watch TV and often takes afternoon naps. He can make himself a bowl of cereal and cup of coffee and he uses the microwave. About the care needs: This is all new so not sure how to answer. Obviously someone friendly, who is not afraid of sm barking dogs. It would help if the person would put dog on a leash and walk her around the large yard to help dog see her as a pack leader. Problem is, dog sees itself as pack leader over her human. Dog loves to sit on his lap and growls at people who get close to him. He has a doggie door, so she runs out and barks as people enter the yard. I can explain further how to handle dog. Can caregiver drive him to a Dr appt? We will try to arrange home food delivery from Walmart. He needs his bed sheets washed once a week and bed re-made. Run vacumn weekly. Wash up any dirty dishes. He uses paper plates and bowls, and re-uses favorite coffee cup w lid, so that cuts down on dish washing. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
