I'm exploring options - not sure if we will hire help yet... I'm looking for someone to visit my mom on weekdays to help her use a compression boot device on her legs, which are quite swollen with fluid (lymphedema). She knows how to do it but is not complying with doctors orders to USE the device. She's loveable but stubborn! She is also dodgy about taking her meds (I have an automated dispenser for her) and a caregiver could also make sure she has taken her morning meds and prompt Mom to take them if she hasn't. The boots are easy - you just zip them on and turn on the machine. Mom does not have Alzheimers, but she does have dementia in that her memory is really the pits - especially her short term memory. Of course Mom does not think she needs help and does not want help, so I'm looking for friendly care with a light touch.
