About the job
About who needs care: My mother has dementia, she will watch TV, play with her fidget blanket, possibly go to bed for a couple hours. I will have her meals prepared and the doors to the rooms locked so she wont need too much monitoring when she gets up to fidget and wander. She will not try to leave the house nor try to drive. She can be resistant at first with small things, but a sweet voice and soft coddled touch usually does the job. No meds need to be given for the times I would hire. As for structure, there is little structure other than I like her to be out of bed as much as possible and at least sitting on the couch watching TV, so she uses her body, engages, eats/drinks, and so she will sleep during the night. She only has dementia, no other co-morbidities She is 91. 2 lbs, so shes extremely easy to handle. Thank you. About the care needs: Best personality is a firm caregiver that knows they have a job to do but has a soft touch and can be coddling with a sweet voice. My moms mind is infantilized by the dementia so speaking to her as child helps greatly. A patient person who understands memory issues, the repetition and guiding that dementia patients need. Mom has no co-morbidities and can not do all that much, so its essentially watching TV with her and giving her the premade meal I have. She just has to be monitored.
