About who needs care: My mom is physically capable of many things but has early stage Alzheimer's and needs a companion to help her run errands. She has a vehicle but gets lost easily and needs someone to drive her to go food shopping and any other places she wants to go. She has difficulty remembering how to cook using appliances and needs help with light duty tasks around her house. She has a cat that hides or sleeps most of the time. I am a nurse but live in Florida. My aunts are nurses that live nearby but need help caring for her. I am looking for someone to be her companion on Tuesdays and Thursdays for around 4-6 hours. This person needs to have patience to understand that she has memory issues and will need frequent reminders and will ask the same questions repeatedly. She cries frequently because she is frustrated that she is losing her memory and feels lonely. She can do all of her own bathing and dressing etc. She may need help using the washer and dryer. She enjoys shopping, putting together puzzles, watching sports and soap operas on TV and going out to eat lunch. She likes to go to the salon for hair, manicure and pedicures. She enjoys going to church and reading prayers. As her memory loss progresses, she will eventually need more time/days with a companion for her safety. I am trying my best to keep her at home for as long as possible with the understanding that eventually she will need to be placed in a facility. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
