About who needs care: Need someone to transport my 88-year-old mother to sit and fit exercise classes, medical appointments and/or the grocery store in the afternoons. She walks with a cane, suffers from poor vision, hearing loss, short term memory issues and is extremely set in her ways. She is also funny, direct, sharp witted, an educator, counselor, proponent of human rights and social justice, a patron of the arts and a lifelong Democrat. Looking for an individual who is positive, liberal minded, caring, patient, thick skinned, has a good sense of humor and is well versed on social and political issues. An ideal candidate would also have a physical therapy or occupational therapy background, a good driving record, good vision and hearing, possess the physical strength to assist if needed, strong mental clarity, good judgement, enjoys conversing and doesn't mind speaking loudly or repeating themselves. We are in search of a glass half full rather than a glass half empty kind of person- someone who tries to infuse some joy into everyday. Bonus points if you appreciate good music and food. About the care needs: Positive outlook; familiarity with iPhone especially in regards to basic settings(adjusting brightness, making sure mute button isn't on, etc); clean driving record, reliable transportation; kind, caring, liberal minded; dependable, physical or occupational therapy background a plus.
