While the hours look long, there is PLENTY of down time. On Monday/ Wednesday there is dialysis from 10am-2:30 where you can enjoy a break. But before dialysis from 8-9:30 a.m. you are helping him get ready, fed breakfast, and then driving him in his handicap van to his dialysis center about 10 minutes away. Then picking him up after about 2:30 p.m. to bring him home. When he gets home he eats lunch then goes to take a nap for a few hours where you get more down time. On Tuesday/Thursday, he is taking it easy most of the day after the previous day at dialysis. Most of the time you are just on call in the home in case he needs anything. However, the most unique aspect is that there are 2 assistants that switch on and off for 2 weeks. So you work for 2 weeks Monday-Thursday and then the other assistant works the next two weeks.
