About who needs care: Diabetic; had a few minor strokes and has some incontinence, but he can get around with a cane; fairly large guy; blind in one eye; needs help cleaning, meal prep, buying food, putting things away and picking up; ensuring he has taken his daily meds (do NOT need a nurse at this point, just someone to ask and make sure he's taken meds); maybe some exercise and stretching. Ideally, want to make sure someone checks on him daily for 1-2 hours and helps out with things. About the care needs: Need someone patient and nice. Also someone who can be direct. My brother Jeff is fairly smart but hes been somewhat isolated from society for a decade. He is divorced and has two grown children who see him less and less. He is depressed at times and certainly is not happy with where his life is. He is 58 and has been in disability for about a decade. He is a very proud individual who wishes he could do more than he really can. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
