About who needs care: Dorothy is currently unable to stand up or walk due to weakness. She needs full assistance for transfers and activities of daily living. She loves her family, God, the Astros, and her flowers. She likes to watch her shows on TV, likes to talk about her time as a librarian and talk about her family. She loves sweets and root beer. She has had 2 strokes which has left her with weakness and also has broken a hip and her arm in the last 2 years after falls. She has had pneumonia and UTIs in the last 6 months which have added to her weakness. She currently wears oxygen at home and has a catheter. She is enrolled in a hospice program. She has some mild/moderate dementia and can be confused about where she is at times, but other times knows exactly who and where she is. She very much wants to live the rest of her life at home. We love her very much and are trying to find someone who will help us take care of her so that she can stay as comfortable as possible. About the care needs: We need someone who is skilled in full assistance transfers from bed to wheelchair and wheelchair to her power recliner. Someone who can assist her with bathing. Someone who is Kind, can speak loud, slowly, and clearly, and who is patient.
