About who needs care: Having a macular hole in eye surgically repaired. Must recover 3-4 days staying face down for 45 minutes/hour during waking hours. Lives in a group home setting. Others will prepare meals, give daily medications. She needs someone to help her stay occupied, play cards, read to her, encourage her and assist her in finding comfortable positions to stay off of her back. She may need a bit of assistance getting a bath, etc. She is normally pretty mobile She loves birds, to talk about her childhood, loves to laugh. About the care needs: Someone who is calm, cheerful, rather quiet, can encourage her when she gets frustrated or bored. She can get hyperfocused and needs someone who can find humor and the silver lining in situations that are not always easy to endure (boredom). Someone who has some understanding of what is necessary for the healing/recovery process following surgery for macular hole in eye. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
