About who needs care: My Mom is 80, very sweet, and is recovering from hip pain. She has had scans and lots of doctor appointments but so far they've haven't been able to nail down a specific injury or problem. She also has rheumatoid arthritis. She has limited mobility at the moment but she doesn't need a lot of assistance - she toilets by herself but may need help with showers. She'll need someone to bring her meals (she is a light eater) and also handle dispensing her medicine. Her meds are already organized in a sorter so you would just need to get it to her at the right time. She walks using a walker and can get in and out of bed unassisted and walks around on her own. My Mom isn't a big talker and prefers that her caregivers just pop in and out to check on her and be available if she needs anything. She just really loves knowing that someone else is in the house with her and close by. My father passed away last May and they were married for 52 years so she's had to make big emotional adjustments. It would be just you and my mom at the house unless I, or one of my siblings, stop by to visit About the care needs: Preferably her caregiver will be a happy person who is able to entertain themselves until she needs assistance or meals. Mom is quiet, likes to read or play her dulcimer, watch TV, or hop on her computer. She values her independence and privacy but she also loves having caregivers in the home! She will welcome your presence and is happy you are there yet prefers to keep mostly to herself. I think once she is feeling better then she'll be ready for someone who will work with her to get chores accomplished and organizing things around the house. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
