About who needs care: She is 89 years old.
Has pacemaker. Had recent broken bones (shoulder, hip) and must use a walker. Has mobility issues due to back pain. Can shower, get into/out of bed, prepare simple meals on her own.
Still of sound mind, though with some short-term memory issues.
An avid Jeopardy watcher. Enjoys reading (particularly interested in WWII era stories) and reads the paper daily. Occasionally watches films. Watches TN Titans and closely follows the team.
We envision providing her help from breakfast through mid-day, typically with errands around the home and occasional transportation to doctor appointments. Potentially some evening hours for same.
About the care needs: No particular hobbies or interests required. My mom (patient) is a practicing Catholic and used to attend Bible study classes, so knowledge of Christianity could be a common talking point. But the caregiver can be of any faith or agnostic/atheist, as my mom is accepting of those of other faiths/cultures/etc.
Patience would be mandatory. Helpful to be a good conversationalist. Likewise some comfort in the digital world, as mom spends a part of each day online.
If the person can cook, that would be a bonus, but it is not a requirement.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
