About who needs care: My father is in 80's and continues to push himself to do things he should not be doing, like mowing the lawn, scooping snow, taking things out to the dump. He has a pacemaker, recovered from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, fractured his C4 vertebrae in his neck from passing out and falling and continues to try and live like nothing is wrong. My mother is 14 years younger, in excellent shape and take care of him, but it's too much for just her. Every time I tell them to stop doing yard work , or moving heavy things around she tells me they can't find help where they live. About the care needs: My mom is a great cook, they enjoy doing yard work and gardening, but they get themselves in over their head and do stuff like moving things that are too heavy for them or exerting themselves too much for house tasks. Even someone that could drop in, check on them, and coordinate contractors/landscapers/snow removal etc to get them help on things they should not be doing would be helpful. I live 8 hours away and cannot provide the support they need. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
