About who needs care: My Dad enjoys short walks in his neighborhood and watching TV. Parkinsonism has caused some dementia but his worst condition is aphasia. He is close to losing the ability to speak and process communication. He goes to a local exercise class 3 days/week. He can still do all of the ADLs but is shaky on his feet, has periods of delusions and sleeps quite a bit during the day. My Mom needs a break a couple of afternoons at this stage. About the care needs: Someone with a sense of humor. Someone who is not easily offended. (This will be a change for my Mom who is struggling to be patient and she will need to get comfortable with it.) Someone who has the ability to take 1-2 walks daily with him in his neighborhood. Services needed include: companionship, and mobility assistance.
