About who needs care: My husband has Vascular dementia and has recently beccome bedridden. He needs help with changing in potty habits, dressing, eating, bathing and using the hoyer to get into his wheelchair. He likes to watch movies and listen to music. He likes hearing jokes and will talk to you if you start the conversation. He loves to go riding on outings when weather is good. He is a very pleasant guy to be around. The responsibility of the Aid will be to help me with him, give me some relief, and help with some house cleaning. About the care needs: I need someone who is cheery, calm, knowledgeable about vascular dementia and willing to accept direction. I would like someone that can fill my shoes when I need to go out for earns and also be a companion to me. I am a crafter. My husband was in electronics before he got sick. He also was a farmer. We have four cats, so there needs to be a love for animals, cats in particular. The skills would need to be in the use of the hoyer, not the manual type. Rolling in bed to change his undies while in bed and bathing while in bed. Knowing about skin problems and being away of them before they lead to real big problems. My husband is in good health. He had a kidney transplant andis doing well. He does have stenosis of the aortic value that is not acting up but are aware of for his care.
