About who needs care: My father has aphasia, parkinsonism, a neuro-degenerative condition, mobility limitations and a urinary catheter with a foley bag. He can use a walker for a few steps but has poor balance. He would need assistance under my mothers supervision with bathing, dressing, trips to the bathroom, and getting in/out of a vehicle for doctors appointments, etc. He has chair lifts in the house for stairs. He typically wakes around 8-9 a.m. and goes to bed 8-9 p.m. He would need help for 3-4 hrs after waking and prior to bedtime. He is friendly and always happy and has a pretty good memory for a dementia patient. He does tend to get confused and sad later in the day but nothing that affects his behavior at home. About the care needs: Somebody with patience, an update personality, and a good sense of humor. He likes to joke and laugh. He likes people who can carry a conversation since he has speech loss. He would do best with a woman who could bathe and dress him as well as take his vitals and change his urinary bag if its needed long term. otherwise , somebody who could change his incontinence underpants and clean him up after a bowel movement, etc. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
