About the job
About who needs care: Has had MS for 50 years, but is very independent and very determined. Her husband of 59 years died a year ago and she is insisting on staying in her home, but has take a few falls in recent months, breaking her arm. She also needs a knee replacement, though it is unclear whether they will give it to her or not. As her children, living between 1. 5 and 10 hours away, we would like to have someone check in on her daily, help her with any tasks or errands that might need doing, but still give her the sense of being independent. She is an introvert and does not love to have too much conversation, though it does seem like she may be getting a bit lonely and more receptive, so it is just something that needs to be felt out, day by day. About the care needs: Someone quiet and aware. Wry sense of humor. Well read. knows the right balance between giving space and stepping up. (I know.., it's an almost impossible ask!) No specialized skills, unless there is a need to pick her up after a fall. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
