About who needs care: My Father is a sweet old guy with Parkinson's, including the early stages of Parkinson's dementia. He recently had a seizure and has been in a residential rehab facility for the past 2 weeks receiving PT, OT, Speech therapy, etc. He is doing very well and is due to be discharged on 3/1 to his home with my Mother. They live mostly independently in an in-law apartment connected to our home. It has been recommended that he is no longer safe to be home when my mother is out. At this point the facility has said he is mostly independent but does need standby assistance for using the bathroom and occasionally may need help cleaning himself if he has a bowel movement. Most of the time will just be keeping him company and giving any needed safety reminders. As for his interests and hobbies, he loves his daily walks. He enjoys watching TV and, in nice weather, sitting outside to watch the cars go by. He does nap multiple times a day. About the care needs: He would feel most comfortable with a man. He has difficulty hearing, so someone with a strong voice would be helpful. We were told he would NOT need any specialized care, but we do need someone who would be comfortable helping with the bathroom if that was necessary. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
