About who needs care: My relative is an immigrant from Haiti and speaks English. Due to mild cognitive impairment/ early dementia, she sometimes forgets the English word for things. She is no longer able to drive and needs to be driven to the grocery store and medical appointments. She has arthritis with back pain and left knee pain. She should use a cane when leaving the house. She is very religious and likes to use her phone to listen to prerecorded preaching and songs. She worries and is prone to get upset about family members in Haiti and becomes sad about deceased relatives. Therefore, it is helpful to occupy her time with interesting conversations and TV shows. About the care needs: The caregiver needs to be patient, kind, and tolerant of beliefs and culture that are different. Drivers license and access to a car. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
