About who needs care: Mom is a 15-year lung transplant recipient who takes a lot of medications. I organize her meds and she is good about taking them. Because of side effects from these medicine she has severe osteoporosis which has caused spine issues, including sciatica which affects her mobility. Mom is particular about her home and personal belongings, but once the caretaker is aware of her procedures it should be fine. (For this reason, a single caretaker would be ideal.) She is not an early morning person so help from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Would work well. Mom likes to play cards, watch game shows and reminisce. About the care needs: Someone who is patient and nonreactive who can let grumbling comments roll by. Ability to prepare meals and drive mom to non-medical appointments. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
