About who needs care: My mother has ALS and needs regular care in her home. Family is currently helping, but there is more need than we are able to support. Her hobbies include playing games, watching tv, cats. Her ideal day would consist of her getting up, having her breakfast and watching tv, likely a mid-day nap, eating lunch/dinner. Potentially community outings (grocery shopping, running errands, etc.). She currently uses a power wheel-chair and will soon require use of a Hoyer lift and support with activities of daily living. About the care needs: My ideal caregiver would be easy going and patient. Experience with ALS is preferred, but not required, as this is a relatively rare disease. Experience with lifts, equipment, and caring for those who cannot care for themselves. A driver's license and willingness to transport her in her van. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
