About who needs care: T, my dad, is in memory care center. He previously worked in city planning but his passions were being in a mountain cabin with friends and family-- fishing, fixing things, hunting, carpentry projects. He just needs someone to encourage him to walk around and to talk/companionship for 2 hours a few times a week. All other needs are already taken care of. He would strongly prefer a male but if a female provider could relate to him, that's fine too. About the care needs: Someone who can 'read' dad who has dementia and doesn't always come out with something understandable-- his thoughts are scrambled. But he is willing to engage 1:1-- the ideal provider is someone who doesn't talk too much but who searches for things that will engage my dad. Walking with him around the halls saying hi to folks from the cleaning lady to other residents. He doesn't like crowds (like the church gatherings or other social events during the day usually) but loves talking 1:1 or in small groups. Someone who has had experience with a senior with dementia would be a good fit too. Services needed include: companionship.
