Companion Care Needed For My Mother In Lafayette Hill

About who needs care: Mom is in early dementia and lives alone, but has adult daughters that live nearby who visit and call daily, has a grandson who's a senior at college who comes home on occasional weekends and holidays, but we need someone to come daily to make sure mom eats, takes her meds, keep her company while she watches Hallmark channel movies, accompany her on daily walks in the neighborhood, chats (she's a gabber) and drives her to her favorite spots most days, which is to the supermarket up the street, occasionally out to lunch, to errands, etc. This would be an active position, with going out at least once every day, weather and mom's energy permitting. She has a cat and a tidy home, which we maintain well, so not a lot of cleaning needed, just help with laundry as she gets less able to to that. Right now she is doing most things herself but is getting forgetful and will need help with those things now or soonish. About the care needs: We're looking for someone who is friendly, warm, patient, and likes to talk, but also knows how and when to sit quietly and be peaceful, which is a delicate art. She would need to be someone who likes going for gentle walks and likes driving to local errands and likes heating up/preparing simple meals. Our ideal caregiver knows how to gently encourage without pressuring or being bossy, and knows the right tone of voice with a sometimes anxious, but very friendly 77-year-old with early dementia. In the summer, you would need to be willing to drive to the nearby swim club and hang there with my mom--she'll sit with her friends there, and be happy to leave when she's ready, which is usually about an hour or two, she doesn't stay very long anymore. We'd love someone who likes to stop and get a sandwich or soup somewhere with mom sometimes, too. Someone who brings the creative energy and wants to initiate things without pressuring. Encouraging and active, but not over the top and follows the client's energy. Mom has dementia and COPD and sometimes feels like going out, sometimes doesn't and we are ok with that. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
