About who needs care: Both parents. Still able to get by for the most part on their own, but during the winter in particular, it's going to be hard for them to get out. They mostly use rollators around the house; my mom has some balance issues, sight issues, and swallowing challenges. My dad has hearing aids and on certain days feels more stable walking around than others. They both still are able to manage medications and are in excellent cognitive condition. They listen to classical music, watch some TV, do crossword puzzles, occasionally use the exercise bike or treadmill, bring home takeout, go out with friends on some rare occasions, and putter around the house, They like their routine/quite surroundings and are resistant to entering a continuing care community unless one of them passes away or ends up in one. About the care needs: Someone willing to run errands, occasionally accompany them to appointments. Perhaps someone who can offer to prep certain meals that can be heated up later in the day. Someone who enjoys chit-chatting with them a bit and is able to get a sense if they need a higher degree of help and let me know. If the person is able/willing to get more involved in the future if needed (e. g., more hours, helping with personal care, etc.), that would be great. Right now, they still enjoy some level of privacy. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
