About who needs care: This is my father-in-law. He has MSA and his mobility is severely restricted. He spends most of his day and night in a recliner lift-chair. He requires a catheter and often cannot make it to the restroom. He is a fall-risk and my mother-in-law is unable to lift him when he does fall. The amount of care that he requires is putting too much pressure on her - she cannot even leave the house to shop for groceries. They need help. He watches a lot of TV. He used to play guitar but is unable now due to his illness. About the care needs: The person coming into the home would be as much a companion for my mother-in-law as they would be a caregiver for my father-in-law. In terms of dealing with my FIL, they need to be tough - they need to be able to put up with his gruff attitude toward being told what to do. In terms of being a companion to my MIL, an interest in books and gardening is a plus but not necessary - just someone who can help relieve her stress of constant caregiving and maybe allow her time away from their home. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
