About who needs care: about my husband: 87 in March 25 dementia diagnosis, early stages being treated , a real sweetheart, easy to be with wears hearing aids, not always effective he was a designer in advertising, a TV director - he is currently writing a play - was a math whiz who now gets easily confused he sees a gerontologist we are both creatives- I am an active artist-writer & retired professor of fine arts typical day 7-8 up 8-10 morning tv news, breakfast 10-1 or 2 writing on computer - computer tasks more difficult - needs help - doctor appointments, helps me with grocery shopping but moves slowly, gets confused even with 4 item list - I do errands, go to exercise classes Thursday & Friday mornings but don't want to leave him unattended - he needs companionship & some care so as not to leave stove on, or water running , and going up & down stairs, watching him walk so he doesn't trip About the care needs: Personality Traits Patience, kindness, good sense of humor, friendly, perhaps a younger person who enjoys hearing good stories, able to deal with hearing impaired and cognitive issues Phil says "young & strong" - Phil is 6' tall Skills computer skills safe driver some kitchen skills - able to assist Phil when he wants to prepare food can oversee making sure Phil takes correct medication in packets I have prepared Hobbies/Interests card games any kind of art & design experience, interest or appreciation interested in news & politics that are focused on the well-being of humankind Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
