About who needs care: My brother is completely paralyzed. He has Inclusion Body Myositis and he does not have any muscle. He hopes to attend his son's Parent's Weekend at University estimated dates are Friday- Sunday September 20-22, 2024. He is 6'6" tall and 220 pounds. He has daughters and a wife who plan to drive him to Bethlehem, PA. However, they are not usually his care givers. He hires 2 men daily at home. The men can not travel from Boston to PA. to work all weekend. He is a double assist. I am wondering if CARE workers might be available and interested in sharing my brother's schedule all weekend. This would include cleaning him, dressing him, transferring him to and from bed, and even keeping him company while he sleeps in case he needs a cough assist machine in the middle of the night. I am thinking it might require 4 CARE works to share the schedule ( 2 at a time). This is a HUGE request. I am just giving it a try. Thank you for letting me know if this kind of service is even a consideration. I have not told my brother that I am making this request. About the care needs: An ideal caregiver would be VERY strong and good at lifting 220 pound person who does not have muscle or mobility. We use a Hoyer Lift at home. My brother can talk through the directions as the caregiver helps him. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
