About who needs care: She is very pleasant, very cooperative. Day time is a breeze, she likes walks (short), word search books, folding laundry, and watching court tv. But after 4pm, sundowning can occur. She time shifts to where she was working in the hospital and forgets why she is in our home. This is her cycle from 4-6 p.m. if she is not distracted by games or other content. If she's alone, and can't find the answers she's looking for, it gets way worse. This is also new for her, so when the clarity comes back, she gets scared, also why being alone isnt a great idea. We encourage positive thoughts during this cycle. We will distract her by bathing, having dinner, calling a family member. She likes listening to salsa, Bachata and other Spanish music. She loves our dog, he's able to recognize when she's getting upset. We use word games on our phones, she loves them and knows it helps keep her mind strong. She can do her own ADLs, we just listen to make sure she's safe. No lifting needed at all. We just guide her while walking at times when her hip pain is present. We just need a few hours in the evening for a break here and there, as it is just my husband and I caring for her. We only work and care for her. I will have meals and meds prepared at all times with instructions. We don't expect housekeeping or other stuff like agencies do. Just leave the areas the way you found it, our home is clean. We just simply want to be able to leave our home with peace of mind that she's in good hands, that's all. For people who have been in the field, like myself, I'd say this is an "easy case". About the care needs: Patient, kind, creative with "just go with it" mentality... no one who will "argue" with her. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
