About who needs care: Our mom is 87 and lives in an independent living apartment in Portland. She's cheerful, funny, loves people, and always enjoys a good conversation- especially if its about politics or animals! She's a little frail and forgetful and uses a walker, but she's completely independent with her personal care. In December 2024, she adopted the cutest, most playful kitten who keeps her on her toes! She lights up when she's around others and really thrives with gentle encouragement to stay active, social, and engaged. Her ideal day includes a friendly visit from someone who'll chat with her, make sure she's eating and drinking, help her get to activities in her community, and encourage her to move around a bit instead of sitting all day. She doesn't need hands-on care- just someone kind and upbeat to help her stay connected and supported in her day-to-day life. About the care needs: Were looking for someone warm, upbeat, and reliable--someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with older adults and finds joy in small, meaningful moments. The ideal caregiver would be social, kind, patient, and have a good sense of humor. Our mom loves people and responds really well to friendly conversation and gentle encouragement. This person doesnt need any medical or personal care experience--just the ability to be present, caring, and help our mom stay a little more active and connected. Comfort around cats is a must (her kitten is very cute and curious!). Fluency in English is important, as clear and easy conversation is key to helping our mom feel engaged and understood.
