About who needs care: Condition called early onset posterior cortical atrophy, early stages. Executive function issues combined with a deteriorating visual connection to the brain. She managers her personal hygiene and bathe but has challenges with: Dressing (hard to tell if things are inside out and/or backwards, buttons, etc). Managing TV remote and phone. Meal-prep. Currently meals are prepared for her. She is able to operate the microwave. Basic housekeeping. Because of her loss of abilities, she feels vulnerable, fearful of going outside on her own, getting out for walks, so tends to isolate. Basically no hobbies. Because of her vision issues, she has trouble reading and writing. Leans on podcasts and streaming shows but challenged with navigating devices. Ideal day structure: She can get instant coffee and prepped breakfast items. She can bathe herself but has been more comfortable having someone near so she can have assistance with dressing. A walk (or other exercise) with another person is needed as there is a lot of anxiety of venturing out on her own. Occasionally I travel or have meetings in the evening and a person is needed to assist in the evening to get dinner, take meds, and get the TV set up to stream a show or two. She is then able be left on her own at that point and can turn off the TV, brush teeth, prep for bed. About the care needs: Patient. Cheerful. Conversational. 30's or older. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus. (person is bi-lingual but likes to speak Spanish!) Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
