My is 90 years old. He has a hard time communicating due to aphasia. He has some dementia. He loves to walk! So this would involve coming by, checking in with him, going for a walk in the neighborhood together, maybe a trip to the supermarket while on the walk (I'd say about 3/4 mile to 1 mile total walking). Then return home, make him (and you) lunch and have lunch together. Then settle him in in front of the tv, then clean up lunch and do the dishes. Then done. I'd say this would generally speaking be the routine. It's a few hours beginning around 11. The days are somewhat flexible. About the care needs: A warm, engaging person would be great. My father is active and outgoing and benefits from relationships, which are harder to develop due to limited capacity for communication. He likes to connect and have a few laughs. He likes to talk even though it's challenging to understand him. He's from the East Coast so has a somewhat tough guy exterior compared to native Oregonians (he isn't a tough guy to be clear). This makes it all somewhat humorous and fun actually. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
