About who needs care: James broke . He has to be TOTAL NON-WEIGHT BEARING until his ankle heals some more. This might be 1-3 months depending on how he heals. He does have dementia, but is very functional. He did have a stroke recently but has minimal deficits from this. Responsibilities are mostly helping him with transfers to & from his bed, recliner, and toilet. Keeping him safe. He will need to be taken to and from the dining room for meals. He takes a lot of naps and likes watching TV (especially old westerns). I will be in the apartment a lot of the time, but my schedule is sporadic, I need coverage from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the week. About the care needs: The caregiver MUST BE A NON-SMOKER. James is usually easy going and cheerful. It would be good to be sensitive to his needs because he sometimes isn't able to verbalize his needs. He is stoic so might be in pain and become very quiet, or grouchy but not be able to identify that he needs his pain medications. There may be times that you need to give him pain medication or remind him to take his pain medication. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
