About who needs care: My father with advanced COPD needs regular hours daily for in-home care. We don't need a full day but several hours each day to provide care, help with meals, and administer or oversee medication. He lives in my sister's home, so hours must be managed based on her and the caregiver's schedules. About the care needs: He's brilliant (Stanford undergrad and law) and direct but also very kind and generous. The best fit would be someone with a dry sense of humor and patience, someone intelligent enough to match Dad's intelligence. The caregiver must learn to monitor and administer the air he is on 24/7, which is not complicated. He will not be as interested in the hobbies, but they may be able to help him with projects he works on, mainly on the computer, or if he wants to try a new recipe or is engaging a subcontractor for a project around my sister's house. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
