About who needs care: My grandma is in the early stages of dementia, so she struggles with short-term memory but is still very much able to carry on a conversation and take care of all of her bodily needs. After a mild stroke a few years ago, she uses a cane inside the house and a walker outside the home. She lives at home with my grandpa, who is deaf but completely independent. We are looking for assistance with reminding to take medication and support completing physical therapy exercises, as well as general companionship. Ideally, someone would drop by a couple times a week for an hour or two in the early afternoon, when she is at her best cognitively. Sometimes she might need help running an errand or two as well. About the care needs: No specialized skills are required, other than patience and understanding for someone with dementia and a partner who is severely hearing impaired. Someone who is positive and can be encouraging is important. My grandma is up for any activity for the most part, but is limited a bit by her vision and mobility. It might be nice for someone to help her cook a meal for them in addition to meds and PT. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
