My dad is a lovely, happy, physically healthy 74-year-old grandpa with early/mild dementia. He will be having an eye surgery in October and the recovery is going to be tricky. I expect that he will need constant supervision to comply with post surgery recovery as anesthesia causes the inability to remember and follow doctor's orders . The supervision will mostly look like companion care with lots of reminders not to bend, lift, or do any activity that raises his HR. Specifically, he will need someone in the bathroom with him when he showers, dries, and dresses himself since he will not remember he is unable to bend over while doing these things. He may also need assistance dressing and undressing to avoid bending over. My child, dog, cat, and I live with my dad and I work remotely and will be available if needed.
