About who needs care: My Aunt has ALS. She loves to watch SCI-FI moves, spend time with her grandson and family and on occasion take a trip to the Casino. My Aunt is the most independent strong individual I know. This disease has taken that from her. She got diagnosed about two years ago starting with drop foot to her left lower leg. Today she is unable to stand and is losing core strength little by little each day. she gets around in a motorized wheelchair and amazes me daily with her skills. She is able to transfer self to and from wheelchair with minimal assistance, but someone needs to be there in case she has a moment of weakness. She gets tired easy and needs help with all ADLs. My aunt likes to do as much as she can for herself. We need someone who is patient who will foster this. She has good days and bad days. I want to make sure her last days are peaceful, comfortable and surrounded by people who care about her. We are a fun family and enjoy life looking for someone who is fun, honest and compassionate about their work and the lives they touch. About the care needs: Driver's license Can use a Hoyer lift in the home Can make decisions and work independently Basic cooking skills Knows how to care for someone who is bed bound. Turning, repositioning and skin care. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
