About who needs care: He has dementia. He's been taking medication for about 4 years and it is doing a nice job of slowing the progression, but late afternoons/early evenings is the more difficult time of the day for him. He is very outgoing, and loves company and to talk. Favorite subject matters are around history and cultures. Keeping him focused on positive subjects and conversations, help reduce anxiety and stress for him, which helps him tremendously. Looking for a caregiver that would be with him from 4-7 p.m. for a min of 3 days a week, and ideally 5 days. The days can be any combination, but prefer to be set days. During that time, caregiver would do light cooking, meal prep and join him for dinner. He does not eat well alone or without company. Carry on a conversation, and help him get through his meal, then normal cleanup/evening routine. He usually goes to be around 8 p.m. About the care needs: Outgoing, and willing to talk about the subjects that he's interested in. Someone with common sense, who is resourceful, and good with healthy meal prep. Ideally the caregiver will not have an accent and speak slowly and clearly, as he can struggle with accents. He is Greek, and has a mild accent still, and he loves cultures, but he gets frustrated when he cannot understand someone, and this adds to his stress. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
