About who needs care: Dad lives with Alzheimer's Disease, and we need someone who understands the disease and has experience caring for an Alzheimer's patient. He is very happy, very chatty, and walks a LOT. He currently lives in an Assisted Living facility. He was a truck driver and trucking safety manager, woodworker, tinkerer, and car restorer. He and Mom were married for 53 years, we lost Mom in 2021. Assignment is someone to sit with him ideally 4pm-10pm, which includes his dinner time, and provide companionship, care, and support for him during this time. He can stand and walk with assistance (generally holding his hand is enough). He needs assistance with toileting, occasionally with eating, clothing changes, and getting in/out of bed. He also loves to give hugs. About the care needs: Kind, patient, inquisitive personalities work best. He's a talker, although much of it is at a mumble. He doesn't enjoy being talked over but does like if you join in the conversation with him, even if it's a general agreement/comment to keep him going. As noted before, experience with Alzheimer's patients is a must. Services needed include: companionship.
