About who needs care: Sue is my sister and suffers from dementia. She taught high school Spanish for 36 years. She lives in a twin home in Kettering with my other sister, Linda. Linda is going on vacation for two weeks in October. Sue needs support in the form of guidance. She becomes confused at times and may need help finding common objects. She watches TV most of the day and sleeps well at night with occasional wandering within the house. She uses a walker due to a previously broken hip but gets around fine. She needs food prepared for her and medication given. She has no health issues except diabetes which is controlled by medication. A wonderful aide comes in twice a week to assist Sue in showering. Much of Sue day is spent sleeping or watching TV. About the care needs: We need someone who has the experience and patience to deal with memory issues. Sue has never been combative but naturally gets frustrated when she is confused. She has lost most memories of people and her problems with word retrieval limits her interest in conversation. She once was a an active reader of mysteries and enjoys tv shows that are police or medical dramas although lately has trouble following stories. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
