About the job
About who needs care: Was in the hospital for two weeks. Options were 24/7 home care which has become unsustainable for my family. COPD, is scheduled to see pulmonologist. Memory has been intermittent since 3rd day in hospital. On oxygen machine 24/7 currently. Needs help with meals, errands. Wheelchair to the bathroom and back. She generally just watches tv. She took care of my dad for years before he passed, and has lost all hobbies. Has mentioned she would love to find a craft group or a nice group of women friends, but would not go out to church with me when asked. Could really use a hobby or something to occupy her mind but not overwhelm her. Her ideal day would be getting up, going to Goodwill. She loves finding deals. She mostly just enjoys watching tv in the evening. About the care needs: My mom would feel more comfortable with a woman likely 45 or older. That general area, someone she can relate to. Knowing how to run oxygen machine and portable one for trips/appointments. Easy to learn. My mom does have two dogs that have been at the dog sitter. They are 2 small yorkies. She would love to have them back so someone who is familiar with how to treat pets, feed, let outside to play etc. Something like crafts, or drawing my mom is really interested in. Between taking care of my dad SND COVID she usually only left the house to get food. She is such a personable, outgoing person, so someone similar who could bring that part of her back into her life would be amazing. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
