About who needs care: Mom is 84. From a fall on steps has a: 1. Broken ankle in cast temporarily not mobile. Has 2 weeks from today (1/9/25) no weight except toe touch for balance and pivot. After that partial weight in boot. 2. Fractured sternum & compression fracture on T3 vertebrae. 3. In dementia and on medication for that. Mom is very family oriented. Does not like to be away from home. We've been in rehab centers at different times in the last 6 weeks. They have been memory care capable skilled nursing and our experience has not been good. Mom loves to read and look at old family pictures. She loves to talk about her family and growing up in West Virginia. Mom is sedentary and prefers to read, watch movies, sit around the table and have a cup of coffee. About the care needs: Older female caregiver. Someone who has care for dementia patient experience.( Mom has outbursts and needs someone caring and firm - persuasive. Mom is stubborn wont ask for help - very independant. ) Special skills: dementia awareness, physical therapy experience. (Mom needs help on rehab for walking after cast comes off. Strength building). Giving medications. Unfortunately mom was not always cooperative in rehab care. And we do not feel welcome at the facility anymore. (Shes been labeled difficult) Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
