About who needs care: My mom broke her hip Feb 21. She is still in nursing rehab so not sure what her initial mobility will be upon discharge and fully what support we will need. She was mobile and independent prior to this. She lives with me. Trying to set up her coming home to be successful and continue her recovery. Underlying conditions are orthostatic hypotension and very recent mild dementia symptoms with some agitation at sundowning and memory loss. She became lightheaded and that's why she fell. Ideal day - helping her get up, get ready, take meds, eat something - so help make her a small breakfast like egg, toast, fruit. She watches the news for a couple of hours in the am(important info :) ) She will need lunch and take a nap 1-3 ish. Need some help with working on PT routines for her enhanced mobility. She likes to go shopping, watch murder mysteries, read, play solitaire or cards. Need someone who can transfer her either in the bed or change her and help her shower, She would go to sleep by 8 p.m. Curious how you structure hours or the minimum. Some competitors require 4 hours at a time. I can see some needs in the morning and evening, to secure her in and out of bed but the rest of the day would be not as active so 4 hours at each window would be wasted. Appreciate the conversation and information. About the care needs: A good caregiver, being patient and not obtrusive. Skills to move her appropriately and technically correct if that is necessary in and out of bed and shower. We may need assistance taking her BP periodically to see if it is stable so someone with general health knowledge would be helpful. My mom is a retired social worker so she can get along with almost anyone. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
