About who needs care: Mom has alzheimer's and, while it is not far progressed yet, is resulting in short term memory issues and episodes of anxiety and uncertainty. Physically, she is more independently capable than the two of them. Mom is religious and enjoys playing the piano, watching TV shows, and doting on her cats. Mom would ideally have a day where she could conversate with someone about her childhood before watching a movie/TV show or two. Dad struggles with the mobility of his left foot due to an allegedly pinched nerve in combination with general atrophy from inactivity. He is becoming increasingly hard of hearing. Mentally, he is more independently capable than the two of them. Dad spends his time in his recliner watching the news on his phone. He often naps during the early midday and then mid afternoon. Dad would ideally spend his day relaxing with his news shows and a glass of vodka. About the care needs: Someone with a patient and tolerant mindset would be a good fit. Mom's mentality is more childlike than Dad's. They don't require specialized skills past conversation and understanding for alzheimer's (Mom) and management/reminders for medication. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
