About who needs care: Patient has a bone-on-bone hip, significantly limiting his mobility. He can walk with a walker or rollator, but his frailty and weakness makes him a fall risk. He is also recovering from a fractured vertebrae that resulted from an early Oct 2024 fall. He has some memory issues and can sometimes be confused by too much stimulus, but is pleasant and lucid. When he's not working with his physical therapist, he spends most of his day in his chair watching television, relaxing or napping. About the care needs: His ideal caregiver would be patient, compassionate, and kind. He's adjusting to the idea of needing to rely on others, which is difficult for him, because he's always been a very self-reliant man. He has urinary incontinence, so his aid should be comfortable with changing protective briefs and assisting with personal hygiene. Meal preparation will mostly involve heating something up or making a sandwich -- nothing too complex. He can generally sit/stand/walk, but needs supervision when standing/walking as a precaution against falls. His ideal aide would be someone who recognizes and appreciates that he doesn't need constant activity or engagement, and may often just say "I'd like to rest quietly for a bit now". Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
