Looking for care for my 75-year-old mom who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. She likes reading science fiction books, gardening, painting her nails, crocheting, cooking, and chatting. Ideal day would be hanging out at home, doing a few errands outside, cooking dinner, and spending time with my father who she lives with. The ideal caregiver is a kind person who likes listening to stories, asking questions, chatting, and laughing. Due to the Alzheimer's, experience with dementia patients is ideal. Help will be needed with reminding/encouraging to shower, put on new (weather appropriate) clothes, laundry, and other tasks that have become difficult due to the disease. I'd like someone who is willing to stay with my mom as she progresses to the middle stages of Alzheimer's. Important to note is that my mom and dad live together and he is usually at home, so the caregiver will be around him and they have to also get along. He is blunt and no-nonsense.
