About who needs care: I am a physically disabled person in my early 40s. The genre of my disability is neuromuscular, and the most significant aspects are a limited range of motion/mobility in my upper and lower extremities and chronic pain due to osteoarthritis in various joints (left ankle, right ankle, left hip) most acutely. I am ambulatory and use an electric wheelchair for walking over 300 feet. I've recently been diagnosed with Her2+ Breast Cancer and am currently undergoing cancer infusion treatments (chemotherapy). I am undergoing six infusions over the next 4 months. The treatments are every 3 weeks. I'm seeking in-home support for personal and home care during the first seven days post-infusion. I am looking for a carer to be with me as I navigate symptoms. Symptoms vary and are hard to plan. I am mainly looking for a carer who is an excellent listener to transcribe calls with the nurse when needed, help me document my daily care (medication, bowel movements, hydration), and support daily living (hydration, reminders for medication, teeth brushing, grabbing things from pharmacy or store as needed). I live in an elevator building in Lower Manhattan. A hospital, grocery store, and pharmacy are all within 100 feet of my apartment. I work from home as an artist and educator. About the care needs: I am looking to meet someone mellow and detail-oriented. There are no specialized skills. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
