My dad is 84 and, because of pain in his legs, can only walk short distances with a cane. He is otherwise apartment-bound on the UWS. He lives with my mom who is much more active and mobile, so we are looking for someone to relieve my mom so she can maintain her own lifestyle a few hours a day while still ensuring that my dad has some companionship. Dad is a very intelligent, cultured and informed person who thrives on lively conversation, ironic banter, bawdy humor, and good-natured teasing. He has started to need a bit more physical care and support, but is still independent; he does find himself lonely and eager to talk and connect. Need someone lighthearted, with an easy laugh, who doesn't live far from RSD. Need not be a professional - a grad student or stay-at-home parent with extra time on their hands midday could be ideal.
