About who needs care: My mom has some problems hearing and with certain physical tasks like putting on socks. She also goes through bouts of depression. During those times in particular, she is not good about keeping her fridge stocked with healthy food and eating regularly. She does like to take walks from her building, going to the library, and playing cards. We feel in home support to keep her place in order, perhaps help with laundry, and most importantly someone checking up on her diet would help her remain mostly independent. My brother lives in the building with his wife and two sons and they have helped but something more regular and proactive seems called for now. In terms of structuring the day and timing your visits, I think she would want to have a role in deciding that.
About the care needs: She would do well with someone that has a lot of empathy for the depression.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
