About who needs care: The purpose of the daily visit is to have my father take his medication. My father and mother both have Alzheimer's. She is much more challenging to work with because she is protective of my father and thinks she should be the one to do everything for him. Because of her cognitive impairment, she cannot reliably give him medication and when medication is left where she can access it, she'll hide it. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver will have over 20 years experience working with clients with Alzheimer's, will be able to think quick to divert my mother's attention or to gain her trust and prevent her from thinking you are there to take her job away from her. She will not remember you from day to day so everyday you will face the same challenge. Services needed include: companionship.
