About who needs care: I am 73 years old, and have Parkinson's disease; I was diagnosed 10 years ago, and have very limited mobility. I'm looking for a reliable driver to take me to my class and PT, both of which are at set times; but also someone to take me to lunches with friends, doctor appointments, etc. I need someone to wheel me out of my apartment and take me to the car - I can seat myself. My transport chair folds up and fits in the back of most all cars. When I get to my destination, I also need to be wheeled to the interior - a restaurant, a medical office - whatever it may be. The class I take and PT are both on Monday, about a mile apart, but also two hours apart. We can figure out how to navigate that if anyone is interested. I can provide at least 24 hours notice for the social and medical appointments. About the care needs: I think someone with a sense of humor, and a lot patience, would be good. It can take me a long time to get around on my own, which is why I need more than curb-to-curb service. Someone who can either talk all the way to a site, or can drive quietly, would be nice. I don't think there are any specialized skills other than capable driving. My hobbies are reading and quilting, anyone who shares one or the other would be a bonus. Services needed include: transportation, and mobility assistance.
