About who needs care: I am his daughter. His wife (my mom) passed away in the end of Dec and I am his primary "companion"/assistant. He lives independently in the apartment he shared with my mom but is very lonely. Doesn't have any friends. I need someone to come over for a couple of hours per visit, ensure his pills are set up correctly in his pill case, maybe throw in some laundry, light cleaning, meal prep/check on what he is eating, and when warm, assist him in walking outside (he is able to walk on his own but is hunched over a bit and I worry about him falling). He does have a bad heart with a pacemaker, defibrillator, and prone to congestive heart failure but is managing it. Also diabetic but is able to administer his insulin. Nice man who just likes to have someone to talk to and help out. It is not good for him to be alone for days at a time. About the care needs: Someone who has a quiet, caring approach, in decent shape, and isn't going to "tell" him what to do. Just caring and letting him lead the discussion and come up with ideas on what to do. No specialized skills necessary as he is not overweight. He had a nursing student coming to help with my mom who was disabled, and he really likes her. She still comes occasionally to take him to the Oconee diner but she is busy so no consistency since my mom passed away. He loves watching the Yankees, and other car shows etc Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
